In this charming story for young readers, a pirate chooses to say “Q!” despite taunting from his fellow crew mates who say “Arrr”. When the crew is shipwrecked, it is up to the Q pirate to save the day. This rhyming story features a story and a message of diversity and acceptance which will appeal to young readers and their parents. The book also includes colorful illustrations created by D.W. Gross.
Gwynnedd-Mercy education professor, Mary Jo Pierantozzi states “"Q, A Pirate's Tale teaches young children about accepting those who seem different. It presents diversity in a simple, yet straightforward manner, to which all children can relate. It is a delightful story."
D.W. Gross has been writing and illustrating children’s books since he was in elementary school. During his time at Lafayette College, he studied English and art. David was first inspired to write “Q!” while at Lafayette. “Q! A Pirate Tale” is his first published work. David is pursuing a career in elementary education and is currently working on his second children’s story. David is also returning for his fifth season with the NJ Renaissance Kingdom, which will be celebrating its 20th anniversary at the Red Mill in Clinton. David lives in Washington, NJ, with his wife.
