My life story going back to apprenticeship 1946 in war torn Austria to serving the world's most prominent people at The Waldorf Astoria and The Plaza in Manhattan. Funny anecdotes and some serious glimpses what goes on in large hotel kitchens and dining rooms. Laugh about room service disasters and over eager catering directors. The book includes menu facsimiles and authentic recipes for dishes seldom served today. The book pays homage to the myriad colleagues I worked with and learned from. Not an expose yet candied observations from 50 years working in kitchens and musing about the industry by looking behind the wallpaper as Food and Beverage Director at The Plaza when it was still La Grande Dame of New York hotels.
