Marvin is a bit small for a shark, but he doesn't mind. He's happy and has
many friends - until he has to move to a new reef. At his new school, Marvin
tries to make friends, but the Shark Bullies have other ideas. In a surprising
twist, Marvin turns the bullies into his friends. A beautiful combination of
illustrations and photographs entices children to read Marvin the Shark
over and over again. A "Fish Facts" section provides information and photos of
Hawaiian marine life. A portion of the proceeds from sales of this book will go
toward marine conservation efforts.
Christopher John published his first book at age nine. He became
interested in writing and drawing from the moment he could hold a pencil. He
started writing and illustrating books when he was five, loves to write, and
does so whenever he can. It isn't unusual to see him sitting on the playground
at recess with pen in hand. He has been known to recruit other kids to join him
in writing funny stories and drawing pictures. "I hope my book inspires kids to
be kind, and to love reading as much as I do," says Chris.
