You must pre-register to attend this event.  There is a $15.00 fee to attend.  More information is forthcoming

Join us as we welcome A.S. King, and Josh Berk, two of the hottest up and coming young adult writers on the scene.  A.S. & Josh will be facilitating a 2-hour workshop detailing their experiences as publihed authors of fiction for young writers and provide valuable information for aspiring writers.

Forget about your "inner child" -- what about channeling that tortured teenager living inside of you? Everyone has one of those, right? Authors A.S. King (The Dust of 100 Dogs) and Josh Berk (The Dark Days of Hamburger Halpin) certainly do. They've tapped in to their inner adolescent and written critically-acclaimed young adult novels. And now they want to show you how it's done.

Everyone who attends the two-hour writing workshop will leave with the first paragraphs of their own young adult novel. To help you get started, King and Berk will cover questions such as "Are there rules to writing YA?" "How does a grown-up capture the voice of a teen?" "How to get your book published?" and "How to get the word out to teenagers about your book once it's written?" The authors will also discuss tips and tricks of the writing life as well as lead the attendees in fun writing exercises geared towards getting you started on your first (or next) young adult novel.

ABOUT A.S. KING

A.S. King has recently returned from Ireland, where she spent a decade dividing herself between self-sufficiency, teaching adult literacy, and writing novels. Her short fiction for adults has been published in a bunch of cool journals and has been nominated for Best New American Voices anthology.
